How Do Autogas Nozzles Work?

By OPW | Dec 06, 2014

If going green is a focus of your fueling operations, then look no further than autogas, or LPG, applications. Autogas is a mixture of propane and butane, and this innovative, clean energy option leads the way in decreasing exhaust emissions. Compared to gasoline, autogas reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 25%. If you decide that these alternative applications are right for you, it's important to consider how autogas nozzles work.

ot-300-nozzleRefueling with LPG is not too different than the process concerning gasoline and diesel. The optimal design of autogas nozzles allows them to lock onto the filling connector of the vehicle. Then, the driver proceeds to press down the button on the dispenser to release gas, just like with any other refueling application. Once the tank has reached maximum filling capacity, a valve located inside of all vehicle LPG tanks will stop the flow of fuel. The nozzle can then be disconnected and returned to the dispenser in the usual fashion.

LPG nozzles are constructed from brass, aluminum and stainless steel, promising reliable durability and excellent resistance to corrosion. They are also manufactured to be user-friendly, with only a single squeeze of the hand required to initiate fueling operations. Many autogas nozzles also feature a well-insulated handle to protect users against the harsh temperatures of high-flowing LP gas. In order to guarantee the user's safety, the optimal design of autogas nozzles ensures that the nozzle will not dispense gas until securely engaged onto the appropriate receptacle, and will not be disengaged until released by the operator.
