Individually identifying and selecting the best underground storage tank (UST) equipment, piping and containment systems and dispensing equipment – which all must work in complete harmony to ensure a safe and reliable fueling system – is a daunting task and one that today’s time-strapped fuel site operators are often incapable of tackling by themselves.

Realizing the pressure that fuel-site operators are under to not only optimize business performance, but also stay true to the strict set of rules that govern the operation of their sites, the manufacturers of fuel-dispensing and storage systems and equipment have made great strides in developing components that meet specific regulatory demands.

Fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP), or fiberglass, sumps are a relatively new type of equipment in the retail fueling scene. These sumps are being specified more frequently, and for good reason. They offer functionality and fuel compatibility benefits over polyethylene (PE) pumps.

PDQ Manufacturing, Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of a new distributor for the state of Western Australia. Lovegrove Electrical, located near Perth, WA, has agreed to acquire the PDQ vehicle wash equipment distribution business from PDQ’s former WA distributor, Carwash Spares and Repairs, along with related lines.

In a move that will provide extra flexibility for fuel retailers, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued a final ruling to give gasoline blended with up to 15% ethanol (E15) a year-round 1 psi Reid Vapor Pressure (RVP) waiver during the summer. Previously, retailers in some states could not sell E15 from June 1 to September 15.
